Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has signed a ₹125 crore agreement for a four-year collaboration, marking his return to television. The deal includes his role as the host for two major upcoming shows — Bigg Boss Bangla and a new quiz-based show. The shows are scheduled to premiere from July 2026.
As per the announcement, production for both shows will begin in July 2025. Bigg Boss Bangla will be the first to be telecast and is expected to introduce a fresh chapter in the regional television format. The quiz show will be developed as an original concept combining knowledge and entertainment. Both shows are part of a strategic expansion in non-fiction television programming in Bengali.
Sourav Ganguly said, “Television has always offered me a special opportunity to connect with people. I am truly delighted to associate with Star Jalsha, as we embark on a new chapter of storytelling through innovative non-fiction programming. I’m extremely excited to host both these thrilling shows, which will blend entertainment with intellect.”
He added, “I’ve always believed in exploring different ways to connect with audiences beyond the cricket field. Television inspires me to discover new formats and real stories, keeping me engaged and motivated. This is a new innings for me, and I am ready to play it with the same passion that earned me fame in the world of cricket.”
According to the official communication, this partnership is aimed at redefining regional entertainment for Bengali viewers both in Bengal and beyond. The format will bring together well-known personalities and curated programming to engage a broad demographic. This deal is one of the biggest ever signed by a public figure in Bengali television, with a structured timeline from production to broadcast set over the next 15 months.
